Danshui (淡水)

So my dad's long time friend, Mr. Tseng, came and brought me to Danshui (淡水).

On the way there, we stopped at some at some memorial hall to see the changing of the guards. They change guards every hour and have a changing of the guard ceremony. Mr. Tseng thought it was spectacular ( like their drill). but I thought it was ok. I think the MHS NJROTC's DTWA (back when I was in HS. hehe.) is MUCH better with drill/precision. I think that US Military drill beats them by a longhaul. But I wasn't planning to say it in another country. LoL

the tracks you see on the ground is from all the walking (during the ceremony) the guards do. They have copper? plates on the bottom of their shoe.

I feel so bad for those guys. It is so hot in Taiwan and their uniforms are long-sleeved.Those uniforms are HOT! Though I haven't tried the Taiwanese kind, I tried the US ones and to wear "class A" with the sun out in unbearable, even in the shade. Let alone not being allowed to move for AN HOUR. I can't even sit still for 1 minute.

After that, we headed off to lunch. We ate at Sky of Sea Buffet. I don't like King Crab legs usually, and generally tend to avoid them. They are a pain to peel and you only get a tiny bit of crab meat in return, so I like to leave that job up to my dad. spoiled. yea i know. he peels my fruit too) But since Mr. Tseng ordered me some, I figured I would try it. IT WAS SO GOOD. I also had raw oyster, which I didn't like as much as the cooked oyster, birds nest (so good!) and so on. I didn't try red wine again this time though, I tried it at "Las Vegas" buffet that Mr. Tseng brought me too, and I don't like the bitter taste! They did have mango, watermelon, honeydown, grapefruit, grape, lime juice, and 東瓜牛奶 (I don't know the exact translation in English, but its "dong guan nui nai" or I guess you can call it "dong gua milk" if you know what dong gua is) among others, though.

The problem with this restaurant: there was no regular toilets (or at least in the set of bathrooms i was in). I would have waited to go to the bathroom, but there are not many toilets in TW, so it would be worse if I had to find one later when I really needed to go. I think I used the squat toilet the wrong direction. (haha. now you all know)

We headed off to Danshui. What a pretty place! We strolled along the streets. I wanted to go shopping, but it would have been weird for me to go shopping with two adults who are not my parents, so I will return to LJue to do so.
